Whilst you might think kettlebells are a modern training phenomenon (or if you’ve never even heard of them before!), you might be surprised to know that training with kettlebells has in fact been done over hundreds of years, initially by strongmen, weightlifters and wrestlers. Today, the kettlebell is used by many; from professional athletes and sports teams, mixed martial artists and power lifters, military and special forces, to celebrities, personal trainers and everyday gym goers and fitness enthusiasts.
A kettlebell is a traditional Russian cast iron weight that looks like a cannon ball with a handle. Unlike dumbbells and traditional weight and resistance training, kettlebells integrate whole body, dynamic and multi-directional movements (strengthening groups of muscles rather than just one at a time), which give you combined cardio-power-strength-fat-blasting results.
There is a huge pay off using kettlebells; the cardio system and muscles are worked simultaneously putting an end to long, boring gym sessions.
